We are looking for more campers for the January campout and Klondike Derby.  So far only 8 scouts have signed up. Four of those scouts are sled team age. We will need a few more scouts 8th grade and under to help guide the sled team through the course. Please register on the website as soon as possible!

Monday Dec 12th Weekly Meeting - Special Event
Monday December 12th we will be embarking on a very moving journey. We will be watching the HBO movie “Taking Chance”. With Veterans Day and Pearl Harbor Day so close together, I thought it appropriate to learn more about the final journey home of our fallen heroes. I have seen the movie,  I could see it another ten times and it would still touch my heart every time. (tissue alert) It is an amazing true story told by Lieutenant Colonel Michael Stobl about his experiences escorting the body of Lance Corporal Chance Phelps back to his family. His experiences along the way are amazing, moving, and give us a sense of pride as we learn just how reverent we are as a country toward those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for us. All scouts and their families past and present are welcome to join us. Yes, we will have popcorn and drinks!

2017 Scout College (Feb 11th and 25th)
From Mr. Garvin: Saturday February 11th and Saturday February 25th will be The Old Colony District merit badge scout college. This is an opportunity for scouts to earn multiple merit badges or get a start some of the more time consuming Eagle required badges. Attached to this announcement is the list of merit badges offered. Please take a look at the selections carefully. Some have pre-requisites and some have other requirements. Select your merit badge choices and the time periods you wish to take them(1st,2nd, 3rd). Email or hand me those choices no later than Dec. 18th. I will sign everyone up for their choices on a first come first serve basis. The sooner you get me your choices, the better chance you have of getting what you want.

It's Popcorn Time!

In addition, you may begin now with online ordering at Trails End (https://www.trails-end.com/).  Please go online and register at Trails-end.com. Council Camping Event on October 1st - Response Needed by Aug 5th !!!
From Mr. Garvin - We have been selected to take part in a unique opportunity to enhance scouting within our council.
Our council is putting on an event at Pine Hill Scout camp on Saturday October 1st.
It will be similar to The Klondike Derby in that stations will be set up (run by troops) around the camp.
Boys in grades 5-8 will be invited to come on Saturday 11-4:00pm to see what scouting is all about while attempting some scout skills.
We will be able to camp for free. We will cook as a troop with the adults doing the cooking for breakfast and dinner while having sandwiches for lunch.
The event is scheduled for 11-4:00 on Saturday so scouts that volunteer for this campout can sleep in and after 4:00pm the time is yours.
I will do my best to get us a lean-too site so there will be no setting up tents either.
This could be a really fun weekend. I know that we are camping two weeks before this event and two weeks after… that’s a lot of camping. However this one will be very easy.
I need at LEAST two scouts to run the station. We would also like to have a couple scouts to guide the young boys through camp to all the stations.
We already have two adults so we just need a couple scouts to volunteer.
WE MUST LET THEM KNOW IF WE ARE PARTICIPATING BY THIS FRIDAY. So please let me know if you can join us ASAP.
